Literature Text

A quiet breath,
A raging warmth,
The flashing sound of passing cars,
And a little girl, dreaming anew.

A blonde haired girl, a young little lass
Happily living in a world where no one could reach
Happy to live without knowing what would come next,
Until slowly, it all fell apart

How could she know that she was protected by lies?
How could she know her parents had done much wrong?
How could she know the meaning of despair or pain?
How and when did it all go sour?

I remember when the girl didn't cry herself to sleep,
Because it hurt every day to move without fear
Or when she didn't have to hide away and live in pain,
To make it through another day

All it took to learn how to live,
Was a few kind words and brighter smiles
Finding a love of words and stories
To be a way to go forward

Bravely venture beyond expectations,
Let the little girl see there is a future for her
Tell her what she has to so she won't live with mistakes
That could be permanent, and scaring

Don't let anger take hold of reason
Someday we can see the woman we can become,
No matter how far the future is,
It's possible to grasp the thread of hope
This is a response poem to :icontopazcat511:'s 'Strong Enough...', it really touched base with me so this is what I was able to come out with.

The line about anger really touches me; I lost my temper really badly today and it stayed with me for the rest of the evening.
